My Favorite Skin Care products!

All my life I have struggled with my skin. 

Growing up, I had horrible acne! Because of this, I internalized the idea that I had bad skin. As my acne cleared up, I was still super self- conscious of my combination skin. For years, I wore make up to cover up my large pores and skin redness. Recently, I stopped wearing facial make up on a daily basis and changing up my skin routine. Honestly, this is the 1st time I get so many compliments on my skin. I know this may not work for everyone; however, below are my top 5 favorite things right now.

1) The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Skin Clearing Facial Wash 

This has been one of my favorite products for over 10 years now. It has an amazing scent and it works wonders on my skin. It leaves my skin feeling clean due to its tingling feeling. I tried using other facial washes and my skin did not feel the same. This is the one I always come back to. 

2) Konjac Charcoal Facial Sponge

My combination skin can get oily and dry. I purchased this sponge because of I had heard of the great benefits of using it. I tried it while washing my face (and sometimes without cleanser) and I LOVED it. The dry patches on my face felt smoother and my skin felt so much cleaner. I thought that it would be rough on my face; however, it was surprisingly gentle. They have other types of konjac sponges but I wanted to get the charcoal for the added benefits. 

3) Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner

For most of my life, I have been afraid of toner. My experiences with facial toner were not the best. Some would irritate y skin, others would make my skin break out and/or dry my skin out. The body shop toner was one of my favorites for years and then I switched it up. I really appreciated Indie Lee C-o Q 10 toner but I decided to try Thayers. This toner makes my skin feel refreshed and sweeps up any residue left from make-up or my cleanser. The rose scent is an added bonus. I tried the lavender one also and it worked just the same.

4) Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil- Pai Skincare  

This is definitely my beauty splurge and I love it. Because of my past skin problems, I stayed away from facial oils. I was under the impression that they would clog my pores and break my skin out. It was not until I walked into Supple Integrative Skincare that I changed my mind. I was looking for a good night cream that would help my skin, when this amazing oil was recommended. I was skeptical about it but I trusted what the people at Supple were telling me. Every night, after washing and toning my face, I add 3 drops of this oil to my face and neck. This oil has changed my skincare game. After weeks of using this oil, I began seeing noticeable differences in my skin. My skin was smoother, my pores appeared smaller. For the first time in my life, I was receiving compliments on how good my skin looked. I stopped wearing foundation and was still receiving compliments.

5)Mount Lai Jade Roller 

I love how this roller looks. I was drawn to it because of the jade; however, I love how it feels on my skin. I use it almost every night to add the oil onto my face. It releases tension from the face which makes me more relaxed. As always, do your research about the benefits to see if it fits your needs. 


The above is what has worked for me. I have gotten to know my skin very well and know what works and what does not work. Everyone's skin is different and may not obtain the same results from the above. 

Additional things that I believe have helped me are the following: 

  • Vegan Diet---No dairy! Check out my previous post for more information. Also, I have heard, "You are what you eat", this means that what you consume will come up in your skin. I try to eat nutrient rich foods to ensure I am being nourished and I believe that it has also helped with my skin. 
  • Drinking water---I drink at least 60-80 Ounces of water per day. My skin looks and feels different. 
  • Sleep--- I try to get at least 8 hours of sleep every night. This allows your body ( and skin) to recuperate from the different stressors it has felt throughout the day. 

The above will not work for everyone. Make sure that you are getting to know your body as you learn how to care for it. These are some of the things that have been working for me after YEARS of trying to figure it out.
